The Beauty of Contemporary European Simplicity Crafted with Lines

Southland is the very first phase of the entire comprehensive development at Wong Chuk Hang Station which comprises more than 5,000 residential units with a large variety of retail facilities. Allowing its residents to reach the traditional central business district within just a few minutes, Southland is a new upscale residential development with promising conveniences of city livings for couples and families.
New projects always spark inspiration. A plethora of new design ideas was unfolded by our designer when it came to his opportunity to help craft a new luxury residential unit in such a prestige area.
It is a dream home for a lovely family of three. The owners are two professionals who have a high expectation on consistency, harmony and cosiness in the project. In addition to the requirement for savvy storage, the owners also look for a room for work and a spacious space for their 6-year-old boy for fun and relaxation. With Hei Design’s philosophy in mind, our designer helps slightly modify the original 3-bedroom layout by transforming a bedroom into an en-suite private study area while relocating more space for the kid’s room.
Embracing delicacy and subtlety, the carefully selected neutral colours create a minimalistic nature of the European-style spaces throughout the unit. Having black, white and grey as the main colour tone, wood and marble are used flexibly here to make this apartment extraordinarily bright and elegant. It also effortlessly brings warmth and a low-profile sense of luxury. Alongside some cleverly planned lines and curves on tasteful home furnishings, the unit is transformed into a stylish and inviting family environment without settling for impersonal feelings
Communication and understanding are the keys to this project’s success - the designer fully realises the owners’ ideas of having a simple but elegant ambience in the unit, making this living space a true home.
This living and dining area showcases how an uncluttered yet elegant space is crafted, simply with a neutral colour palette and lines and curves in decors. It is nothing but the utter power of wise minimalism in contemporary design.
Amongst many other details that collectively create the sense of sophistication of this lovely home, the archway at the centre makes it the first point to note with no doubts. It breaks the mould for the linear design commonly found in many living and dining areas in Asia. Much like a piece of contemporary art, the archway adds a focal point, texture and personality to the space. The curvy bespoke console subtly echoes the archway, adding a softness to the overall interior design.
Another highlight in the area must be the stunning dining table paring the black-and-white art piece. Its dramatic black leg exudes boldness and confidence in both the designer and the homeowner. This marble table delicately stands out from the warm oak flooring and the pale undertone used in the area.
Though each decor in the living and dining areas blends well in terms of lines and colours, an inconspicuous rug of the muted tone unfurled beneath the sofa and centre table further enhances the overall comfortability and meticulously delineates the area.
The handover standards for kitchens in new-built are often dreary or even out of place. In fact, elevating the aesthetics of the essential space in a house could be effortless. This kitchen itself is the epitome of an intelligent design. The noble feeling is instantly improved by a modest magic touch.
Changing the cabinet doors from dull colour to grey with Shaker-inspired accents, this series of cabinets maintains the themed design that runs throughout the house while giving the kitchen a sense of luxury and rich texture. The colour of the cabinets also complements the dark kitchen appliances and the grey silver tap and sink. The taste and style of this kitchen are like a cup of freshly brewed expresso - full of rich layers and delicate taste filling the air.
A cosy bed and an ingeniously selected colour palette would certainly boost one’s mood and make the bedroom a relaxing cocoon.
Carrying through the main colour theme, pale grey works absolutely well here and creates a calm atmosphere that is much needed for every single bedroom. The bespoke floor-to-ceiling wardrobe in contemporary European style maximises the visual space, whilst the application of push-to-open hinges allows its vertical mouldings to run smoothly without visible handles, adding extra elegance and storage.
Against a fresh canvas of basic white and pale grey, the beautiful wood becomes the stand-out colour in the scheme. The oak panel brings fuel to the warmth in the bedroom and, at the same time, accentuates cooler fixtures, such as the headboard and lamp, in the entire layout.
Be it a battlefield for video games with friends or a workstation for work-from-home warriors, a successful and quintessential study area surely has many hats to wear. Thanks to the dedicated interior design, this study area indeed lives up to all!
The neutral colour scheme here has a calming effect for better concentration in work and study. A stylish open shelving unit adorned with a fluted back panel can hold beloved figurines besides books and files. The embedded lighting under the open shelves ensures an invigorated feeling in the room. It is also a plus that its light and shade in stripe gain fun yet beautiful contrast with the natural light seeping in through the venetian blind.
Combined with smoother, more matte textures instead of high gloss and dazzling colours, this bedroom definitely redefines how the design of kids’ room is perceived. Neutral undertones are carefully mixed to limit colour infusion. It gives a sense of comforting warmth like a sip of a babyccino and purity that invites the family to snuggle up all day long!
A cosy reading snug sits atop the bespoke cabin bed with soft furnishings and bedding, elevating the look and cosiness of the bedroom. The very own climbing wall in the room carves out a space for fun. The soft cushion extended from the bed beneath ensures the safety of children, and the flexible grips make it into a lively decorative piece as well.!
Not only does the simple yet stylish design align with the style direction of the main home, but it also brings longevity that gives flexibility for upgrades as the child grows. Afterall, a contemporary design is all about the here and now with a nod to the future.
